Henry "Bud" Stilley, Jr., Tarheel Associates' president, founded the company to bring quality and attention to detail to the local and regional home building market. Since then, Bud and Tarheel Associates have earned a reputation for quality, commitment and craftsmanship. Bud founded a companion business, Tarheel Building Systems, to meet the same needs in the commercial, steel construction market. Both companies are known for creating partnerships with clients to deliver the highest quality product and unparalleled customer service.

Lucien R. Vaughn, an ECU graduate and Tarheel Associates' vice president, has been a licensed general contractor since 1986. In 1995, Lucien became one of the first builders in North Carolina to complete the Graduate Master Builder program offered by the National Association of Home Builders. Lucien also earned and holds the designation of Accredited Master Builder from the North Carolina Builders' Institute.  The program involves not only extensive course work and study, but demands that graduates hold themselves to the highest industry standards of knowledge and ethical behavior. Lucien takes a personal interest in every customer and devotes his time and attention to the successful completion of every job.

Lewis Stowe, job superintendent and part owner of Tarheel Associates, grew up in the construction business following the footsteps of his father, a respected  New Bern craftsman. Lewis works directly with the customer on the job site and applies his knowledge, patience and good humor to every project. Tarheel's customers will tell you that Lewis is a true professional, a master craftsman and a great gentleman.

Extending concern for community, Tarheel Associates, Inc. is active in the New Bern/Craven County Chamber of Commerce, New Bern/Craven County Homebuilders Association and The National Association of Homebuilders.
